So last week Saturday I woke up with the most ridiculous headache and carried on as usual as I had things to do and ended up having a great day out with MG, and I didn't spend a penny although we were in Ikea, and they did have some lovely bits.
Sunday woke up with the same headache and didn't leave the house, but I did tell myself that if the pain was still there by the Monday morning, that I would have no choice but to head off to A&E. Fortunately, the headache did subside and everything was back to normal.
Tuesday morning, it was back, but this time with back pain of excessive force. It was awful; I felt awful and looked awful. My uncle was able to give me a lift to the same hospital where I had my initial operation 5 1/2 years ago (I thought it would make sense to go there as they have my book, sorry, I mean notes) and I must admit, I did feel silly going up to the counter saying that I have a headache and back pain, but I knew how I felt, and it wasn't good.
So I see the nurse and she then tells me that the either a neuro-doctor will see me or a doctor from A&E, but due to my history, they have to be careful. Approximately, half an hour later, I’m in a spare room/ward as there was no more space in MAJORS and I’m being told that I will be going for a CT scan in the next 30-40 minutes.
So much for me feeling silly???
Nothing was found in the scan and they really don't know what t do. I looked too good to have meningitis, and they were really lost, and needed to do a lumber puncture to see if there was any bleeding on the brain. This had to be done the next day, and in the morning, I was anxious as I had a LP before. Remember my post when I said I feel as if I am pregnant?
Well a LP is the equivalent of an epidural!
So after the painful procedure, I get a wonderful visit from a few people, including my sister and her mum, who just so happens to mention that I should be good as if there was something to worry about, then I would be on antibiotics, if they thought it was anything bad like meningitis. Low and behold, the nurse comes in and says that I need to be on antibiotics.
I wasn't impressed, and after a question round with the nurse, she says it’s a precautionary measure as they haven got my results back from the LP. Everything was all clear and it was still confusing as I was still having my headaches and no one knew what was wrong. Until they came to the conclusion that it could be all of the codeine that I have been taking for my headaches.
So after 2 nights in the hospital, I still left with a headache, milder that the night that I went in, but a headache none the less. Been given more medication and was told if it get worse, that I should come back in.
I still have the headaches, but on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the pain I was in over the weekend and the night I went to A&E, it's currently at 3. not bad, but I bet your head is feeling like 0.
Oh, the adventure. How boring would my life be otherwise?
Feeling pain is a sign that your body is telling your brain that there is something wrong. Thank God that I am able to feel pain.
