5 Weeks to go

So, there are only 5 weeks yo go and my scalp has managed to have a rest for the past two days. Yaaa, so not itching or irritations. :D

Although I wanted to do this EVERYDAY, last night, I was too tired to do anything, no video diary either. I do hope that i have the strength to continue with 'everyday' things, I'm not really one to be depending on anyone for anything. KMT (exhale)

I'm now curious as in to how long it will take before the hair will start shedding?
Realistically.......... My guess is 3 weeks, although I did say by this weekend, but who knows.

I do need to get another massage in before the end of the year. The radiographer and doctor bother said that a massage will benefit me, and will prevent the headaches too. Roll on fake migraine, cause I know I'm not having no migraine attack. I haven't had one of those in YEARS.

I manage to get me some Aloe, Thanks Aunty Dionne. This will be getting abused from tomorrow.

(Random: I cant seam to find a font which im happy with, KMT. Why can't I find the one I like :(. Oh well)

One Week Down,

So, I have completed my 1st week, and it feels so good.
Despite the nausea and annoying headaches, I'm pretty much in good spirit.

I think the smallest things are starting to wind me up. i.e:
Why are you rushing past me to get off the train only to walk slowly up the stairs?
Rushing to get onto the bus only to remain standing???
Then again, I think they were always my pet-hate.

Yesterday I was told about the size of my bald patches. Its not small. AT ALL.
With this new found information, my treatment today was quite sore. It's amazing how your mind works with new information. Positive thinking goes a long way

Along with my usual nap. (you cant go wrong with a 25 minuet nap) I was ready to face to world. Well, work anyway.

I didn't manage to have anything to eat before hand, considering I was suffering from nausea the moment I opened my eyes. But after passing PRET, and smelling something of a pizza aroma, I was ready to eat.

I'm guessing today would be an example of a typical day.

So I have a 2 day break. It couldn't come any sooner.

I'm a blogger

Well, Check me out!
A Blogger. lol.
So. Why have I decided to 'BLOG'
Well....
I thought I'd document my journey of radiotherapy both verbally and written. Sometimes you remember more when your writing. So here goes.

Due to the radiotherapy being performed on my brain (had a benign meningioma brain tumour removed 5 years ago) I can't treat my hair and scalp like I would normally.
Good-bye to hair grease and deep conditioning, Hello mild shampoo and Aloe Vera.

I should have stared this on Monday, (Day 1) or even before hand, but I'm always busy......
here is a quick overview of the past few days:

1st Treatment:
The whole procedure took about an hour.
Additional images had to be taken
Side effect start to take place.
Informed that the average length of time for the treatment would be about 10-15 minuets.

Day 2:
Treatment time was about 25 min
Headache and nausea is really bad
Scalp is so itchy and hair is breaking

Day 3:
I was awoken (I always sleep during the treatment), as the machine decided to stop working
Had to walk through the waiting are with the frame on my face to get to the other room
Was only one the 'new' machine for .... wait for it.....
2 min, if that.
Side effects are the same.
Saw my doctor and she prescribed some pain relief medication.
I have a few more books to read on this treatment.

Day 4:
Not sure whether the machine would be working today or not, I decided to keep all the books in my bag from yesterday.
Today was straight forward and was informed the the Aloe Vera Gel that I have is not suitable as it has 'stuff in it' that will react to my skin.
"Only 99% or from the plant"
I really need to use it as the skin is starting to irritate me.
I thought the side effects were supposed to happen 2-3 weeks into the treatment?

It feels like....erm....ah, when you perm you hair, and the scalp is getting tender!
yep! Right behind the ears.

Hair should fall out by this weekend then if everything is happening so fast!

So tomorrow is the end of week one. What an adventure.
